Report on INTER-NOISE 2019
INTER-NOISE 2019, under the theme of ‘Noise Control for a Better Environment’, was hosted in Madrid in June. Our report from the conference includes a summary of all events, details on plenary lectures, conference photos, a surprise for I-INCE with the presentation of the prestigious Caracola SEA award and an explanation as to why Madrileños are sometimes called “cats”!
Gary Elko writes to remember Jiri Tichy, former INCE-USA President, who passed away earlier this year. Jiri was heavily involved in the Acoustical Society of America as well as the Audio Engineering Society, the Czech Acoustical Society and the New York Academy of Sciences.
Paul McDonald, from Sonitus Systems Ltd, updates us on a pilot study in Stockholm, Sweden, examining the effects of a ban on truck deliveries at nighttime by using smart city solutions to noise control problems.
Eric Ungar, Acentech Inc, continues his tutorials with an overview and checklist for vibration control. He notes that as professionals working in the industry we often focus on the facets we know best and as a result may miss some useful alternatives.
